Who Are We
Rwenzori Peace Bridge of Reconciliation is a Non-governmental, Non-partisan and Non-profit organization based in Kasese District in the Western part of Uganda. It was established in 1998 with the main aim of changing people’s attitudes and behavior in conflict, demanding their rights using non-violent methods, promoting a spirit of reconciliation and using peaceful methods of conflict resolution. RPBR is a membership organization of individuals, grass root community groups and peace clubs. It is registered and mandated by Uganda national Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Bureau to operate in Uganda as an NGO. RPBR envisions “harmonious and peaceful co-existence amongst the communities of the Rwenzori Region” and it intends to achieve this vision through its mission of “identifying and minimizing causes and negative results of conflict through peace building, education, promoting a culture of co-existence in diversity among the communities”.
The organization was started with an aim of changing people’s attitudes and behaviour in conflict, demanding their rights using non-violent methods, promoting a spirit of reconciliation and using peaceful means of conflict resolution. The organization undertakes local advocacy and lobbying on issues of peacebuilding and community development activities to increase the knowledge and skills of peacebuilding.
among the member groups’ focuses on the prevention of conflicts in local communities and intervening when they get out of hand. Each adult member organization was encouraged to appoint a group of Peace Monitors who were trained to mediate in family and neighbors’ disputes.
RPBR established an early warning system to prevent future out breaks. Visiting village groups and offering training and workshops on human rights, domestic violence, conflict resolution and teenage pregnancy

Our Objectives
- To identify the causes of conflict and work with the community in looking for ways to minimize or resolve them.
- To encourage members to develop the spirit of reconciliation and harmonious living in their communities.
- To create Human Rights awareness and provide peace education to the community about non-violence and conflict resolution through debate and discussion, education and training, using the mass media and networking.
- To promote sustainable development through all possible legal means.
- To support the victims of violence through advocacy and economic empowerment
Target Groups
- The victims of domestic violence and conflicts.
- Vulnerable groups i.e. Youth, Orphans & Vulnerable Children, women, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
- Institutions of learning and other CSOs.
- Civic and political leaders
- Victims of epidemics and natural disasters.
- Internally displaced people, refugees, and persons infected and affected by HIV&AIDS and war.
